Whilst normally I am an advocate of things working intuitively and the way you would like/expect them to, I think I have to draw the line with something like a dive computer.
Despite the way people use them, they do not protect a diver from DCI but are a means of providing that diver with information to combine with their own knowledge of the subject, to assist them in avoiding DCI. If the diver does not know how to use that information to assist him then more fool him, I would say.
