Buy decent bands - probably the single most important element of a set. Agir are very good, as are Highland Mills (no longer made IIRC) and V4 Tec. SDS are pretty good as well.

Manifold - I like Scubatec and Agir are OK, but many people will be along to rave about MDE. Need to make your own mind up about that one.

Get Sherwood knobs (soft rubber - not brittle like the hard plastic ones).

Find a decent instructor and don't worry too much about agency badge (Mark Powell gets my vote).
