I had similar problems and decided to go down the inversion route, hopefully my longer wing inflate will arrive this week and i can use the set in anger.

My problem stemmed from a shoulder injury - dislocation - which has reduced motility up to the point where it dislocates.

If you are concerned the close the isolator and dive them as independents, then in the water you can try to open the isolator.
Its much easier in water, i spent ages in 2 meters of water trying different options.
