| I hope I speak for a lot of people when I say that I have nothing against coppers.
What I do object to is the mismanagement of what should be a oummunity service. You guys on the front line do as good a job, and better, than could realistically be expected given the resources you are given and the constraints you work under. The Political Correctness brigade, the 'elf and safety idiots, the politicians with all eyes set on headlines and reelection and the budget controls that are inplace force you and your colleagues into crap roles. The ludicrous position where supposed "safety measures" such as speed cameras are really revenue generating devices. Where citizens don't waste their time reporting crimes because they know that nothing will be done about them, in turn allowing the crime figures to look far better than they are. And where louts, vandals and thugs get away with terrorising whole neighbourhoods. All this and much much more is achieving one really sad end, the loss of respect that the general public used to have for both the police in general and the law they serve. I imagine that the moral in stations all round the country is at rock bottom a lot of the time and I'm not surprised.
Rant over coat on.
