I really dont recommend using ploys.
It just all goes horribly wrong when you get found out.
I tried pulling strokes a few years ago, booked a holiday and then said nothing until the last minute. My Mrs went nuts and we had a really bad time for a few weeks.
So what did I learn from that? Well now if I want to go somewhere I just tell her I'm going, preferably with as much notice as possible so that we have time to make arrangements to make me being away easier.
Some times she is fine about it, sometimes she is pissed off, but we are both grown ups and can express freedom of chioce.
You do have to remember there may be a pay off, ie she will come home and say she is going away with her mates. Thats fine too.
I did test this to the limit last year. Went to Plymouth for a weekend and came home with a rebreather
