Lets go the whole hog legalise everything then there would be no crime, problem solved
"Daily Mail Brigade" my arse Drugs are bad news full stop there is no justification in legalising them whatsoever.
The it would cut crime argument is unfounded the drugs would still be available illegally i.e without a prescription(just like illegal Fags, DVDs,Booze etc) so there would still be a market for the drug dealing scumbags even if they were available on script.
Prescriptions would be regulated and treatment courses would be required in order to get them "legally" which would cause the users to seek simpler means of obtaining their fix namely the same old dealers that are in existence now. The legal stuff would need to be taken at the pharmacy much like methadone scripts otherwise the users take the stuff away cut it down and deal it. Making them legal does not mean that the government are going to hand them out like Smarties furthermore why should the taxpayer fund drug habits. If that's the case i'll have a script for a case of Boddingtons , a litre of Vodka and 20 Bensons
