sounds like you're getting sorted now.
I was insured with Tesco and needed to make a claim due to some idiot doing a 3 point turn in my driveway and using the side of my car for brakes....

Tesco insurance were very prompt and efficient and I was glad of the courtesy car included.

As the driver had driven off with no details I had to take the hit, but the insurer still kept chasing to find out if I'd uncovered who was at fault so they could go after them to recover my losses.

We've also had another incident of the other driver being at fault and providing false details, previous form and no insurance etc. (Private hire cabbie too!)
Cost us £600 repairs and a fair bit of hassle.
Police seemed pretty powerless to resolve this and the guy disappeared quickly.

The main lessons we learnt from this one were

1) have a means of getting photographic evidence - either a disposable camera kept in the car or a cameraphone. Then you can snap the car positions, the driver and any witnesses. Makes things easier if they start to change their story later.

2) chase stuff through ASAP, and keep chasing until the other parties are complying. We got the runaround of this guy for a few days and it took 3-4 days for things to unravel, by which time he'd dumped the private hire taxi he was driving and cleared out of the area...

hope you are back on the road quick enough
