| This is over twenty years ago, but I used to get £3.75 a week pocket money conditional on my cleaning and keeping tidy my own bedroom. In addition to this I also got my Family Allowance every month which IIRC was £27. Out of this I had to buy my bus pass (£10), all my clothes and my toiletries.
In addition, I often cooked, ironed, emptied household waste bins, walked the dog and did other chores. I was expected to do these as part of the family.
£45 a week sounds a lot.
