I have to agree with Phill,

The non DIR fertinerty didnt start it. The point is it will always be a big issue because we non DIR divers take great offence at the term. Whilst the general concensus is to make light of it and claim to be a prowd one, thruth is it grates and the more effort and dedication you  throw into your diving the more it grates.

It is a DIR issue. Quite a big one, and it will be discussed over and over again just like equaly other irritating subjects, PADI  BSAC rings a bell. We all got fed up with that one so perhaps this issue will die a death on this forum but not just yet me thinks.
