Not been to Makadi Bay but feel I can offer some advice that may be of assistance. I usually dive with Emperor but I think the transfer between Hurghada and Makadi might get to be a bit of a chore at the end of the day.

I see there is an Aquarius dive centre on site. Having just dived with this outfit in Hurghada I can say that it's a professional outfit with good boats, good condition kit, and helpful staff. For a change there was good condition O2 kit on the dive deck. Only downside is that it's an Egyptian run company and is more set up to deal with our European cousins. and you'll find English is definitely a second language on the boats!

If you can transfer south for a day or two it would be worth checking out Sharm El Naga. There's a geordie ops manager and unlimited shore diving including gas is £12 a day.

Whatever you decide, let us know who you went with and your experiences.
