would it help if I got the tech 1 course book?

Decoplanner is my favourite way of planning deco. If you want to know the why you have to learn GFs and M values to understand basic deco and bubble mechanics if you want to be a total nerd.
I still struggle with bubble mechanics but I seem to have got being a dive nerd of to a fine art
My advice would be start safe and see how you feel. 20-80gf is a good starting point then try a bit more aggressive and see if you feel better or worse. I was running 35-85 until I met Andrew and he asked me to run 20-80 or 10-80. I felt so much better after the dives that I run these profiles all the time now. The one DIR thing that makes perfect since is the additional time at 21m when using 50% only for deco. Extending the 21m stop to take advantage of the high PP02 is a good move if your going to be on a low PP02 on the 6 & 9 m stops. I don’t use 50% much for deco but if I did I would do this.
