Erm... so don't send it up from 40M with a spool, send it up from 21M when you've slowed the ascent and have some stops anyway

Are you sure that's true Mark - I've certainly never deployed an SMB from 30M+ up here and I'm not sure that this is standard practice down South either. I'm sure there are some occasional exceptions, but I'm not sure your statement of it not working in the UK is true.
