If you go to EAN setting and wait a few seconds, you will see how full the battery is by the number of black bars around the left hand side (between 6 oclock and 12 oclock) If there are fewer than 4 bars, get a new battery.

Sending it to Suunto isn't cheap (£40 or £50 I think) but they fix it and send it back by return of post.
