i bought the su 1000 last year and dived it in many dark murky conditions never had a problem signaling and theres pleanty of light of them even at the 1/2 output . it seams the darker it gets on a dive the more you notice it than at the surface maybe somthing to do with colour temp. they realy suit the rigor of diving in irish and uk waters where everything gets bashed about on ribs and the shore. they are a bullitproof torch .
