Yep you hit the nail on the head, that was the little ******* that caused the problem in the first place ! It hides the product key away so that when you reinstall norton it automatically activates it which ended with my nice new 2008 version having 10 days left
I headed to the registry key & deleted EVERYTHING that said Symantec or Norton then performed a deep search for anything with either in the file & deleted that for good measure as well
