I went to Cancun to do my Rescue Diver. Although most of my time was taken up with the course I did get to do a few pleasure dives.
I was there just after Hurricane Emily which was just before Wilma. Emily hit Cozumel quite hard and there was no diving there during my stay. So had to make do with Cancun. I found the local reef, Chitales, to be ok but not brilliant.
I did a couple of excursions to the Cenotes ( Tajma Ha and Chac Mool) and rate them as my favoritest ever dives. Its Worth a trip to Mexico just for the Cenotes.
I'm in no rush to see Cancun ever again (the resort) but would like to visit Cozumel and have another look at the Cenotes. Our guide in the Cenotes was called Lief Mienart or somthing similar. He also said that the diving in Cozumel is so much better than Cancun.
