Nope it never put me off and if I had the chance I would go again tomorrow. Loads of people on this board have been recently and will give you their opinion.
A couple of years back we went a couple of weeks after Sept 11th and were a bit cautious but lets face it, Sharm and Hurghada, as we know them today, only exist because of tourism so they are keen to protect that income.
Since then been out again and had no probs.
Think about it - actually one of the safest places to be is on a live-aboard in the middle of the northern Red Sea (Egyptian waters). Far safer than travelling on the tube in London, IMHO.
