I will usually cut a panel out of the pot but only if I am sure that the pot or line is not new and capable of being recovered by grapple, which I understand occasionally happens. I have recovered one set of pots for a local chap but a rib is a bit small for that kind of activity and my buddies didn't thank me.

I think it is probalby one of the few things that calls for EU legislation, heaven knows it should be common sense not to have lost pots reducing your future catches for ever and a day, the potters should think of something to make fail themselves.

I would suggest a campaign but I don't think there is a potters equivalent of YD.
