What I know about photography you could write on the back of a stamp...twice...in capitals, so I'm hoping someone could give me a bit of advice on what would be a decent all-round setup with a budget of approx 150-250 quid.

Digital is a no-no as she probably won't have the facility to download pictures to a computer. I'm thinking an SLR, (canon? Nikon? any thoughts) with a lens that allow for some degree of zooming in?

Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions I'd be very grateful.

Cheers
Dave
I have the Cannon eos with 20mm and 28-80mm for uw and a nikon N80 with a 28-300 lens for land use and would recommend ether.
