VR3 strap (confused)

mmm - probably just being cack handed here...but have tried about 4 different ways of threading the strap through both halfs of the pinch clip and putting on the wee buckle tidier... but can't find any method that is

a) Easy to clip up with one hand and still tight enough to take up suit squeeze

b) Able to be easily adjustable to take up slack

c) Doesn't leave 6" of tail end flapping about

Luckily I have a wee screwdriver that can remove the silver pin... I couldn't squeeze the strap through there.

I know it will be incredibly obvious when I see a diagram or photo but it has me stumped at the moment.

Or does anyone do a simple elastic and velcro job that is easy to do with frozen hands in gloves??
