aye i ring the bells in our church - ring of 6 of them, the heaviest being 1.8 tons. Everyone in the village loves the sound of them, and on warm evenings, people actually come and sit in the church yard with some beers and listen to us practising.
we had a new family move into the village from london (central near to chelsea), and they started a campaign to stop the bells as it was destroying their lives they claimed through lack of sleep when the clock chimed (that uses the middle bell to make the gong), and when we ring the bells on a wednesday evening for 2 hours and on sunday morning for 30 mins - and the odd funeral and wedding.
Needless to say there was some amount of unrest in the village and then all has been quiet ever since

and no it wasnt me!
But we have rung a couple of peels (5024 changes) over about 3 hours! that was good fun to see them staring red faced at us when we found out they hated the bells
