Question Apeks Valves

Ok, here is a question for all you wise wise members.

I am getting wet (very) from the left shoulder down to the wrist. Took time in getting the wrist seals fitted correctly and a very experienced diver also checked, everything looked fine. Neck seal also seemed ok.

Fully opened valve and then closed it off three or four clicks. Seemed to get wet immeadiatley on entry.

Also, quite large wet patch (not just damp) on chest.

When I took suit in to have it looked at, when the valve was unscrewed I didn't notice any Rubber Backing Patch. Now it may have been stuck to the valve itself or may not even have been there. There seemed to be a rubber eyelet in the suit itself, but my question is this.

Do you also need this rubber backing patch???

I'll go and have a look myself after receiving words of wisdom from the wise.

PS. Thanks to all those who posted on my previous dump problems, the gaffer tape has worked just fine, and I have seen bubbles from the dump on the way up.
