| We get a jelly fish surge every March-April time, just as the water first starts warming up, together with a bit of a plankton bloom that murks the viz up a touch. The usual big purple jelly fish don't sting at all, but there are sometimes clusters of the smaller ones with long trailers that can give you a nip. Nothing to be overly concerned about, as they only tend to gather on the surface in great numbers, and you can usually dodge them. Gloves aren't really an option as they are banned in the Red Sea, as are knives.
Still too cold for shorties for me (but I'm a wuss).
Hope all of you popping over, have a great week's diving. We have had some really good stuff kicking around already. |
