I did a cavern course in Menorca in 99, it was lovely.

Clear warm water, fishies to see, azure blue skies, lovely restaurants-------totally inadequate preparation I suspect :-)

Cheers, Malcolm.
Spot on, Malcolm. Other than theory and background, it's probably not much use for UK conditions.

Carrying kit isn't just legwork either, carrying kit through a cave is caving so you should get a bit of caving experience if you don't have any. It will make life an awful lot easier. Then try approaching a CDG regional section, there are four and the details are on the CDG website. I'm sure there'll be more than a few people looking for a lift. I'm also pretty sure most sections will welcome someone that has gone to the effort of getting dry cave experience first.

Try also Martyn Farr's courses, they are about the only commercial courses that are applicable to UK conditions.

And Howard... I take it you haven't seen the hill yet at the Silica Mines?

Cheers,

Stuart
