There is no moral vacuum, there are people with no morals, there always have been, there always will be, but it is not the entire british society that has no morals (unless they firmly believe in the opening crap IMVHO) There is no cultural vacuum - I've been to the theatre twice this week - whole place was packed out
- culture is alive and well.
Intellectual vacuum? Well, our universities seem pretty full and I'm currently working on developing 3 dimensional multiple removal algorithms for seismic - pretty bloody intellectual - makes my head hurt.
It's not British society that is culturally, intellectually and morally devoid, just those sections of society that choose to brandish their "fcuk off if you're not exactly like me" attitude right in my face- if they took the time to look slightly beyond their tattoos[1] they'd see that the vast majority of people that they rant against are also unhappy that a few extremists shout loudly and complain, but they are too short-sighted to see anything beyond the label "muslim" and so feel it easier to hid behind their intemperate thuggish "piss off" attitude.
I know exactly who I am, I am British and I am STILL able to embrace the idea that that Britishness is the DIRECT result of the influences of many many cultures that have been incorporated into the country today.
