I totally agree with wacky28 if you choose to migrate to a country then I feel you have an obligation to intigrate, learning the language is an important 1st step. I used to work in the NHS where it was not unusual (and I understand still is) to encounter immigrants who have lived in the counrty for many years and still speak not a word of english I have sadly also encountered 1 generation born here passport holders who do not speak english....is this right??? The NHS and local councils have to spend thousands of £ producing tons of literature in multiple languages in my view a waste of money probably better spent on english lessons and a waste of paper which probably does not get recycled ...........No I do not object to immigrants to UK BUT they have to be prepared to make the effort to intigrate. I work in a research facility where non british born people are the majority and the number of nationalities represented is in excess of 25 they all speak english some better than others and it is very interesting to learn about other nationalities and customs.
