I totally agree, my reputation has gone from + 20 to -7 in a mere week , none of my posts have been rude or offensive, (although I did piss off a dive shop owner recently with a badly worded post).
I think giving negative points to people just because you don't happen to agree with them is missing the point, if you don't agree with someone's post you should say so in the post and let it be open to discussion, surely that's what a forum is all about !
