I know the design is part of it, I have a Buddy Commando Profile TD, which has no bladder on the forward part of the shoulders, and get very little water in. My partner has a more recent model, which has air bladders that go right over the forward part of the shoulder. I used this for a week last year and found it would get a lot more water in than my regular one, so this seems to be part of it.

However, when others have used my BC they somehow manage to get lots of water in, so that must be down to them using the wrong dump or not positioning it correctly.
