Completely dead Aladin Tec

Good evening everyone

It's been a long while since I posted but first of all, greetings from the Rebel County!

Now onto serious business...

The first dive of the season is tomorrow so I've spent the morning checking on the gear, lubing my zipper etc... the usual... everything looking good.

However, the last thing I was to check was my Computer - my Aladin Tec. I figured it's only 12 months old, I used it out in Sharm about 9 months ago and all was fine and dandy when I popped it into it's box for the winter.

Unfortunately, all was not well...

It seems that the Grim Reaper has been in my spare room and taken a swipe at my computer. It's dead. Totally and utterly dead. I swiftly ran down to the LDS who promptly slapped in a new battery...

Nothing.

Nada.

Not a sausage.

We dunked it in some water to see if that would cause an "it's alive!" type moment but nope.

The LDS (Munster Dive and Canoe) have been top notch and have offered to:

1) Send it back to Uwatec / Scubapro this week for repair
2) Lent me a spare for tomorrows fun and games

My question is whether anyone has had anything like this happen to their Aladin Tec? Am I just unlikely or is this a pile of plop in the computer world? I've had my doubts since the infra-red connection died after about a week and am now convinced I may be better off stumping up some Euro for a nice and shiny D9...

Any thoughts?

calski (who is back in the houseki!)
