When I drove back to York on a Sunday night after a weekends diving in Orkney, and catching the 6pm ferry back to Gills Bay, the bit down to Glasgow was OK.

Once I got beyond Glasgow at about 3am I started to get the micro-sleeps hitting me - where you can't stop yourself sleeping and you wake up realising you've just spent the last mile or so asleep at the wheel

I had to pull over at Killington Lake, had a 10 minute nap, smoked probably 20 Marlboro Lights, drank 2 tins of red bull and then carried on. Got home at 4:30am, got back up at 7:30am to get to work for 8am.

Worth every minute!
