I'm sure there must be a few. There used to be more I think, although the media is to blame if one is fair.

The problem is that when politicians are honest (Willie Whitelaw - the "short sharp shock" doesn't work) no one remembers. Newspapers prefer to focus on the bullshit (Michael Howard - "prison works"). We remember Blair's lies (of which there were many) but not his achievements. Likewise Brown's failings (of which there are many) but not his real and honest attempt to reduce child poverty.

There have been some honest and memorable politicians who entered the house with good intentions and left with their morals intact. Tony Benn (not his kid though) for one. Douglas Hurd for another.

I don't mind in the least that people have a different political view to mine - that is democracy. I don't mind at all that the tories represent the interests of rich scum, rich scum have a democratic right to representation. What pisses me off is the manipulation of the media by worthless shit like imprisoned conman Conrad Black to fill people's heads with misinformation. The campaign against Livingstone by the Mail group is utterly disgusting and reminiscent of the propaganda of some Mickey Mouse dictatorship. This is the reason so many people are turned off of politics.
