The lady I referred to who I used to teach used to flogg herself to death trying to get her dogs to be motivated enough to do the exercises we practised. I admired her determination though, as most people would have given up.
I personally do not like Halti's, but these types of dogs need some sort of restraint, as they are heavy and powerful and a Halti is fit for the purpose with Newfies. That's unless you have an impeccably trained mutt of course. |
I'm guessing it's better to try to get behaviours embedded from an early age rather than trying to "teach an old dog new tricks"?

The Newfy breeder said that the dogs look really big next to most people but next to me they just looked normal sized
I'm going to have to work on getting a lot hairier so I can do the rest of the "dogs look like their owners" thing
