The benefits of "very wide angle" lenses are very clear, as demonstrated by Mike Ward and Bardo etc. As I said earlier, it does in part depend on a cool assessment of the kind of photography you do - subjects, conditions etc - whether that works best for you. (As I said, I personally reckoned the 105AD better fitted my needs than the 165AD. But that choice wouldn't necessarily be the same for others.)
