If you are wearing your canister on your right one simple solution that works well is to cable tie a second dog-clip to the umbilical cable at the right height that allows you to clip it to your right shoulder D-ring. A second clip on the head for clipping it off when not in use.
This ensures that the cable is neatly routed across your body from the canister to your left hand when torch is in use and means that if you don't want to clip the head off whilst you are doing something (ie drop it) then the head is only a little way beneath you.
Just my opinion - but it's simple and works
