I think I'll have two parts to the day ... a talking part and a diving part. My main ambition for the day is to share some info about DIR and my passion for it because of what it offers in terms of comfort, safety and fun. So meet up (next to the bigger trucks in the prebooked parking area) between 08:00 and 08:30 so we can start around 08:30. PART 1 - TALKING Talk a bit about DIR ... likely topics would include:
where it has come from and where I think it's going
how the training paths shape up
DIR equipment
Fundamental skills and their roles for the DIR diver.....
An overview of GUE EDGE, basic 5, kicks, S-Drill, V-Drill, signals hand/light, descent, shooting a bag, ascent etc.
A skills dive PART 2 - DIVING Go diving and group together with DIR Divers so they can "give a show" on how a skills dive is done. My hope is to give everyone an appreciation of what goes on and the level of proficiency they have and/or aspire to have. Then go for a short underwater tour. So that's all the sharing bit done. What I'd then like to do is to have a surface interval and a chat and see what things you would like to do .... if you've never shot bag with a spool that might be fun, if you've never dived doubles then that would be the opportunity to try, assistance with proper weighting, trim or possibly look at some of the skills in more detail. Of course this part is free format so I would do my best to accommodate your request. If we can't do all you want then it's not the end of the world because we can always meet up another time and go diving together anyway. Any questions ..... then let me know, else see you on Saturday morning Mal
