| Handy Harness Hint 2 Want to put a break in the harness on the left shoulder so you can get out of it when RIB diving? Well the obvious problem is if the buckle decides to break. Bummer. However- pop a D ring below the break that you can use for clipping kak off to and carry a double ender with you (which I do anyway for clipping my primary reg off with). Then if the harness clip breaks you can simply use the double ender to hold it together. ![]()

| or, set your buckle up so it doesnt BREAK the harness, but instead releases a few inches of spare webbing. If your buckle does go, its not the end of the world. /Zak (PS. nowt wrong with Woz's method. Just offering alternatives)

| That's exactly what I had, a drop break. But I though cobblers to that, I want a proper break. And a holiday.

| Woz - I'm impressed with the innovations to solve the failure point you introduced to the harness. However I have to point out to anyone else reading this thread - a simplier solution is to not introduce failure points to your harness. Cheers Al

| I can honestly say I'm not trying to start a ruck. It's all well and good suggesting ideas for kit - outside of DIR you an do what you like. If you are a non-DIR diver you might quite happily be modding your gear left right and centre so it suits you. I've got no problem with that and as I said I'm impressed with Woz's innovative solutions. However as this is not DIR and you are all happy to discuss options then it's worth pointing out the option of not doing this. I would hope that as non-DIR divers like to discuss kit variations/fettling that this was a valid point. I guess people are touchy on both sides. Cheers Al (Sorry Howard - I guess people get touch round their birthdays. Happy 50th!)

| Steady on lads. All I wanted to show was a break in the harness which to me is a Good Thing. Now the downside with a break is if it, er, breaks. I have a double ender already on my harness for clipping regs/torches off so can quickly and simply mend it if it does go. A happy 1/2 way house if you like and it may help someone who is thinking about a break but is all nervous and a bit of a pussy when it comes to actually putting one in. But as I have pointed out before- skydivers have harness breaks and if their harness goes it's a bit more than an 'inconvenience'. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH splat. And no I am not DIR which is why this is not in the DIR forum.

I agree here Wos was trying to share something with the group. It does not mater where it was good or bad. I bet some of them DIR boys had Idea's that they wanted to share with others. If we dont move forward we are standing still. so any other people want to share there new fangled way of diving it might even catch on. I here yellow boxes are all the rage now, who would of thought. David
