OMS IQ harness.

I am now OMSed up with the OMS wing, IQ harness and SSBP.

My concern is that with the IQ harness the removal/replacement of the wing arrangement from my banded twin cylinders is a real PITA.

Has anyone found a way round this?

I think I might have covered this in an earlier post but didn't get the answer I needed so the question now has its own dedicated thread.

I found that I needed longer threaded bar on my twins to fit through both the BP and the harness.

A friend has small button headed SS bolts which pass through the wing and BP to keep them together as one unit when not sandwiched between the twins and BP.

Does that answer your question?

Darren

Wink A Cunning Plan

This used to drive me nuts and I always made sure the rig was put together before getting anywhere near the boat as it used to stress me big time. As I use mushroom nuts the bolts are purposely cut short and don't poke through the eyelets enough to find the thread. I did have a couple of short nut/bolts in the spare eyelets to keep it all together but that didn't really help that much

Eventually I developed my custom threading tool in true Blue peter stylee, using a couple of old roller ball pens (Signo Gel fit a treat as they have to be on the stubby side).

Unscrew the pen barrels from all the gubbins to leave the plastic with the sealed end that is slightly tapered. The bore must be 8mm as they fit perfectly over the stubs, all the eyelets just slip easily over the smooth plastic and when its all in place they just [ull through leaving everything lined up and the mushroom nut goes straight onto the thread.

Hope this makes sense.

Kind of ......... I get the principal.

My problem is that, when I fill the cylinders, I want them without wings/BCDs because the club compressor is 'indoors' and the cylinders are placed in a water tub during filling.

I suppose I could get my own special tray to stand them in to drip dry after filling so I don't soak the floor???? FFS, you think you've solved all your problems and then something else crops up!!

Bryan, I use the SDS latching system. I am sure Jules has one to.

OK someone will say they are expensive but it makes taking your twins off really easy.

Gets my vote anyway.

Thumbs up latching system

hi finless,

i brought a latching system from kent tooling about a year ago, and have never used it, but one of my mates did buy one and used it and it worked well, i never put it on cause i was in the middle of a adv nitrox deco course with all the shut down drills etc and wanted the set as close to my back as poss,
so if you want pm me and i will send you the system for you to try and if you don't like it just send it back. its just like a big pony bracket which is flat on both sides one half is bolted to the tanks and one half to the back plate.

Be interested to see how this goes - I use a small P weight between the cylinders and the plate so if this works out could kill two birds and all that.

hi kim, just weighed the bracket and fittings and they come out at 1250grams, so it would take care of a small p weight easily

Dave,

Thanks v/much for the offer but I already have the opportunity to borrow a latching system from fellow Club member (Colinicky) - THANKS Colin.

He is awaiting the arrival of his new shiny YBOD.

Rgds
