My current wing (Mares) is only "lift rated" up to twin 10s -although it copes with an extra ali 3 ltr no problem.

I will be doing trimix later/early next year and so want to upgrade to twin 12s + need to cope with stage cylinders.

I have seen, on YD, links to web sites with info on DIY wings + maybe Dominic has some info on his web site. I would be most grateful (not that grateful you pervert   ) if someone would pls post details again.

When you say DIY wing... do you mean take a wing, a backplate, some webbing etc and make a complete unit.. or do you mean actually make the wing itself from bits of cordura and plastic..?

Matt - tks. I am saving all links posted, this time.

Has anyone out there in YD land actually gone the DIY wing route?

If so, would you mind saying what the end cost was for the finished article? Was it worth the hassle/fun and are you happy with it?

Thanks in advance to all responders.

Hi

I did.
It cost me about £350 including the single wing (someone gave me the backplate so it would have been closer to £400)

I was shown how to rig it by a couple of knowledgable people.

Yes it was worth the hassle.
Yes it was fun.
Yes I am happy with it.

cheers

Just done exactly the same thing, costs were:

Backplate - £40
Wing &amp; STA - £200
Harness - (Not got that bit yet but informed about £40 should cover it!)

So thats about £280 all in.

Diverite recwing £160.
Combro backplate £40 (Has camband slots so no need for a STA)
Webbing, D rings, etc... £20

So approximately £220 all in. &nbsp; Was it worth it? &nbsp;Yep and if I can get a ali plate cheap I will knock up another for holiday diving.

<font color='#000F22'>S/S backplate, webbing and all the trimmings £30
wing off a sherwood outback from daz (hopefully) £100

so £130 (admittedly all second hand but still £130) &nbsp;
