Which single-tank adaptor?

Looking for a replacement for the crappy Halcyon adaptor which has a couple of design flaws IMO:

1. Built-in "wobble" which can't be removed by any amount of nut tightening.
2. 19th-century pre-metrification thread sizes

I see that Kent Tooling does one. Also OMS and NAS. Haven't seen any others.

For convenience I want one that uses standard cam-bands - I'm happy to re-use the Halcyon ones (which are excellent). Also proper 21st-century, "normal" M8 thread is a must.

What about the ones that come as two small brackets as opposed to the full length types - any opinions as to which type is best?

If it makes any difference, I have a Dive-Rite backplate.

Thanks people.

I've not used it yet (but ScubaJay has) but I've got the Frog one from NikNaks and it seems good and got some nice straps on it.

Another option for you

Put a backwards vee in the backplate then you don't need an STA. That's what I've done and it works a treat on my 3mm ally backplate. Then again I have a handy engineering company for things like that.

I have a dive rite single tank adaptor. looks like this:

Technical SCUBA Diving Equipment for Advanced, Wreck and Cave Diving: Dive Rite, Inc. - Catalog - Single Tank Adapter

works fine for me, is very stable & doesn't need cam band holes in the backplate. you can't see very well from the picture but it's just a SS channel like \_/ with band holes & bolt holes (& bolts)

Presumably, I'd also need a wing with some camband holes in it as well...

Yes but if you don't 5 mins with a Stanley knife and you're away. That's what I did with my Frog and it worked a treat.

Looks like the "standard" design - same as the OMS, Kent & Halcyon versions.

Anybody used these things? Or anything similar?

Nice and light I suppose, so would be a good solution for travelling.

i have a similar pair from Agir, bought from here...

Underwater Explorers

handy when changing from twins to single for the second dive, as there is no faffing about with cambands, though i have cut slots in the wing for mounting to the backplate directly, which works nicely too.
