Put my Buddy Commando on Thursday, pulled the sholder strap and the clip broke....bugger! Only had it 20 years and the thing goes and breaks on me. Just not built to last any more.

So the thought struck me.....what have you got that is really old but still working (except your Dad of course ).

Diving related appreciated but not esential.

I keep things for eternity, everything from T shirts to games. My philosophy is: buy decent stuff first time round rather than making do with the cheap stuff your never happy with and lets you down. Can't be more diving related than this 'cause I've only been diving around 6 years, but most of my stuff is that age and works fine with no signes of wear. ( I've obviously had to replace hoses etc. but look at that as wear and tear)

Proof at last that clips in a harness are failure points

Yeah....OK Tom, clips are a failure point....didn't stop me diving with it, just left it a bit looser. If I had been living a bit closer to the UK I might have had it serviced....at least once!

As it happens serendipity struck and a friend who is leaving dropped off a pile of old gear for disposal. In amongst the gash was a new looking XL Commando!!! It's still bright orange!!!!! It had no inflator but that is not a problem, so it looks like I am back in business and my old one can go for a service next time I am in the UK. Ain't life grand.......

You don’t need to be good at swimming to save lives.

OBVIOUSLY YOUR STUPIDITY IS ONLY MATCHED BY YOUR INCOMPETENCE.
