| Imported post Lou a great 'beginner' wing is a TekWing from AP. You can usually pick them up on e-bay for about 120 quid. They come with an ABS backplate, so its good to travel with, and a pre rigged harness. This means you just bung on a cylinder or two and go dive. As time progresses you can flog it for what you paid or replace the b/p with a combro s/s job and rig your own webbing, which wont cost a fortune, about 40/45 quid all-in. The bladder wing itself has 22Kg of lift so you mighty find twin 12's about your limit. Alternatively become a fashion victim and spend a fortune, which if I had the money I probably would do, or recognise you need more lift and get a wing for that instead/as-well. But they are a good first step, will last a while, make a great second wing and you wont lose much when you sell-on. HTH Matt |

| Imported post <font color='#0000FF'>Louigi Have a look at the post I added to Personal Ads headed On behalf of Martin Starkie. He is selling all his kit, although it was posted over a week ago, he could be open to offers and I can vouch for Martin. You supply the twinset and I have the pearls |

| Imported post <font color='#000080'>I'm looking to sell my TekWing, fits a combro plate nicely, all the eyelets in the right place and slots for singles too. PM me if you want it. In fact, anyone PM me if you want it. I'm not asking for silly money, but a good offer and it's pretty much yours. Alternatively, if the wing you're looking at is an OMS and it's decent lift, I might be interested in a trade plus some other stuff. I was looking at Juz's the other day but couldn't sell my TekWing, don't know if he's still got that available. Digs. |

| Imported post <font color='#000080'>Right, wings for beginners. Main difference - the buoyancy is held in the bladder that is shaped like a doughnut that is held up against the tanks usually by a stainless steel back plate. A wing can make you float face down, so be warned! You dont get any squeeze on your body when you inflate it which is nice too. be aware that wings can misbehave if used with single tanks - the bladder can wrap around the tank and act as two seperate bladders. Not fun as i found out! Stainless steel bands are usually used to keep the tinnies together. There is a long screw threaded bar that comes through the backplate and holds the lot together, usually with wing nuts. With this type of set up you will also need a harness to strap yourself into. If you find it a bit unstable you can get a crotch strap too. Manifolds join the tinnies together, and can be isolated by turning the isolator knob, or by using a "slob knob" - a remote for that valve. Alternativley you can go indipendent (as i have done) and swap regs half way through the dive or by using the rule of thirds. You will need to work out what you want to do with this as to guide you as to your choice of regs. Personally i went for dacor vipers as they can be breathed off either way up which solves a whole load of problems. If you do get a wing, be aware that most do not come with pockets so be careful not to become a "cluster fuck" looking like a christmas tree with everything clipped on. If you want the stability of a jacket and not a harness then the Buddy Trident is a nice wing to go for. Plus it has a monsterous pocket on the front. Hope that helps. helen
