I use a CD TDB wing, but I wanted a backup wing for teaching that I can use with my SS banded twins (and maybe cambanded independant 12s for travel) I looked at the buddy tek wing but was told I would have to make holes to fit my SS bands threaded bolts. any suggestions on this wing or any other that would do what I wanted. It would be pool use and O/water training mostly single 12 but occasionaly twin 7's. also, the Buddy comes with different band options. which one would suit me?

It's no hardship at all to add holes to the Buddy wing - just melt thru with a soldering iron. And add eyelets if you want a more professional look

Thanks Dominic, I was looking for your website because I know that you use a Buddy wing. Is it OK to use up to 12litre twinset with custom divers SS bands? Willl it hold the weight? I need it for ocean diver training etc because my inflator on my CD wing comesd under arm and I need an over arm and I dont want to use my best wing in the pool too. do you have to make holes on the ABS backplate too?

I'm told the ABS plate is plenty strong, but I could never face trying it - I use a steel or alu backplate..

You could use the bolts AND the buddy cambands if you're paranoid - that'd certainly support the weight of twin 12s

I bought a Tekwing after all Dominic, I use it as it came out of the factory for in the pool. When I want to use it with my twins I will ditch the backplate and use it with my CD backplate, just need to make those holes in the wing to fit. trouble is that it is 3kg lighter than with my backplate so it take more weight when using it. I dont think I would use it with my twinned 12s though. not enough lift for my liking.

No recomendations but.......
We have a guy with a wing in the club (yes, just the one!) and when teaching AV in the water on him he has a tendancy to turn onto his front because all the bouyancy is on his back and the tank hangs below it. Just a thought.......

That's easy enough to solve - my wing actually floats me on my back..

Dom, what are the holes around the suicide bottle holder? Are they to help you stow things? I've just realised, I don't have one of these any more, but I'm curious now...

I put holes in and threaded some bungee through to create a close-able pocket.

Never really used it tho, so I just cut the whole thing off
