Seac Sub Icaro Tech - HELP!!

I bought one of these recently and I'm having some real fun and games with it.
Well actually I'm not having any fun with it at all..

Can anyone give me some advice on how to adjust/set up the bloody thing?
I've dived it 3 times now, and have fiddled with it a lot in between each dive.

It doesn't seem to matter how I re-distribute my weights, everytime I get in the water the whole thing cants over to the left..
I had thought about ditching my left fin so I'd be able to swim in a straight line..

The only thing I haven't tried is really tightening up the bungees, but I'm not sure how much difference that will make.

Anyone had similar problems with these?
If so, how did you fix it?

Cheers
Russ.

Hi

Not got this type of wing but it could be if the bungee's are not under the same tension on both sides then more air might be migrating to one side of the wing than the other ?

I believe the approved procedure is to cover it with lighter fluid, chuck a match at it then buy a decent wing from Nackers.

Looking at the seac sub website (if you can get past the pretty girl in the bikini on the first page) then the Icaro apparently won a design award from somebody called red dot. Not sure what the design award was for but it looks overcomplicated when compared to other wings. Whilst Woz's suggestion might be a little drastic, you might want to consider putting it on ebay and getting something a little less cluttered and complicated.

Nackers would be a good place to start.

Much more eloquently put. And saves you going to the shop for lighter fluid too. Mind you it's not a million miles away from an OMS wing. What backplate are you using it with?

Mind you Red Dot appear to be about as useful at rating kit as the Cub Scouts:

"The Icaro Tech can be adapted under water to various conditions within short time: under water the jacket serves as a supporting frame for the oxygen tank and thus directly connects to the breathing apparatus"

"One of the most interesting innovations of this jacket is the forged backplate made of hard anodised aluminium alloy – the backplate is the central assembling structure to which all other parts are attached. So far, this modern kind of construction was only used for elaborate professional devices."

Yes- I read that at the red dot site as well. Never heard of red dot before and hopefully they will stick to design awards for kitchen knives and not diving equipment.

Saw one of these wing/harness icaro's in one of the local LDS. Whilst I agreed that it does bear a similarity to OMS, its not as well constructed and just seems to be over-designed. All very pretty but too complex, not sure how the backplate is fitted but I don't think you can take it apart. Not sure that the go-faster stripes have much benefit either.

Still the sea sub site was worth a visit if you speak Italian

I would be tempted to ebay it too..
I think that might be the least painful course of action for you to be honest.

But then if you do get to grips with it - and most importantly you like diving with it - then who are we to tell you what to do. what lift rating is the bladder?
