| you need to try them both before you buy and get the one which works for you I don't know any stockist that let you do that but if you drop into underwater exploerers in Portland they will let you try the halcyon version which are IMHO far better made anyway. Regards David

| have a word with niknaks i do know of a few people who have them and like them main advantage is migration of air which if you've ever had trapped air in a wing it can be a bit of a pain having said that im still using a horse shoe style only because im a tight wad

| There are lots of people on here who dive the Frog Midnight, have a seach through the wings section and have a look, also where abouts are you having a location might help with advice. Last October I bought an Agir wing (horseshoe) before that I had an OMS for years, in June I changed to the Halcyon Evolve which I think is a little easier to dump from. However as David said you would be better if you could try both, it isn't cheap to buy two |

| I currently have 2 donuts (Frog Midnight & Halcyon Evolve) and 2 horseshoes (Agir 55lb & DIRZone 20L). Out of the 4 of them the 2 I tend to dive is the Agir and the Frog. I personally find that the donuts are easier to to dump from (using the kidney dump) but the horseshoes are very good if you spend the time to get used to them. My Halcyon has had some minor inflator problems and to date it is the only wing I've managed to put holes in the bladder of (easily repaired). To say that the Frog was 'inspired' by the Halcyon is putting it mildly but I actually prefer the Midnight over the Evolve. I've yet to have a problem with it and I prefer the way it trims out. I don't see any shortcuts on the build quality or the materials used. The DIRZone 20L suits 12L Fabers better than either the Midnight or the Evolve IMO as it's shorter and therefore suits shorter cylinders. It trims OK, the build quality is very good and the shell material is extremely slash resistant although I do wonder about the possibility of it being pierced. All of the Agir wings that I have seen have all been very good. There is an Agir donut wing but I've yet to try it. The horseshoe that I have is extremely well made and trims perfectly due to where it provides the majority of the lift. Overall it is my favourite horseshoe wing but I keep switching between it and the Frog. If you are based anywhere near me and if you can make midweek then you are welcome to try all of them. The differences are slight but can be significant so do try as many as you can before splashing out.

| I've got a Frog Midnight and really like it. It trims out very nicely in the water and dumping from the kidney dump is nice and easy. Unfortunately I can't comment on how it compares to "standard" horseshoe wings like the Agir or DIRZone as my previous wing was an OMS 100lb bungied wing - comparing it to that managing the gas in the wing is much easier, though to be fair I still like the OMS. If you are anywhere near Vobster give me a PM and you can try the Midnight.

| Frog wing vs horse shoe Cheers for the feedback on the frog wing . Add Al Kenndeys' review of the Apeks WTX 40 to the mix.........all song & praise. I've dived with him with it and it seems to be a great job.. decisions, decisions Cheers Pug |

| i know it's not what your looking for but my old Buddy Travel Wing is a donut bladder. if you think it's worth a shot in the water to see how the donut bladder swims you're welcome to try it. give me a few days notice though as it's currently on loan to someone else. steel b/p. won't take your 10s, it's really single tank only. have to say it is a little trickier adjusting buoyancy on a horseshoe wing with only one dump at one side, but it's not been a major problem. (i did struggle to remember which side worked which bladder on the double OMS one i borrowed from Franklyn.) i tend to mostly use the inflate hose to dump air. parachute dumps on the shoulder are nice...

| Cheers Cheers Al , I'm probably over analysing the decision. Prob just buy the WTX 40 . Had some mixed responses on the Frog, small dealership whereas Apeks are in the UK and generally make quality kit. Ian |
