| Hi I've borrowed a complete twin set from a mate which I'm avidly trying out to get used to diving with them and noticed that the wing - Custom Divers, has only one dump valve fitted! Now, it does have a couple of blank valves in place, which I could presumably fit additional dumps to. So, my question is:- Can I fit any make of valve to this wing, or do they have to specifically be Custom Diver brand. Also, where can I buy spare parts like the valves from, reasonably? Cheers.......Graham

Its a mess about, but the way the wing is fitted to the back plate etc., means you have to do this!!

| You should be able to buy a complete valve from any retailer that sells that breand of wing - it's not a reg., so they should sell you one. Failing that, AP Valves WILL sell you one - I just don't know if it'll fit your wing. |

| Custom Divers Ltd will sell you a complete assembly

| The blanked off holes in the CD wings are for installing a second bladder i.e. for redundancy. CD do a twin bladder version of the TDB or you can retro-fit the bladder, dump and inflator into a single wing version. You cannot add an extra dump onto a single bladder wing without cutting a perfect hole in the bladder in the right location - rather you than me !! Can't see why you need any extra dumps to be honest. You've got one at the top and one at the bottom. (Infact you can pull on the corrugated inflator to dump too) Where else do you need one? If you're cleaning the wing / backplate assembly it's not too difficult to remove a couple of bolts to invert and get the water out IMO Hope that helps G . |

| I must admit that I haven't taken the kit apart as yet (seeing as its not officially mine!). I intend on stripping the set down to see exactly how it all goes together and hopefully I will get a better idea of how to clear any water trapped in the wing. It is supposed to be a twin bladder!! One of the blanked off valves is situated at the back of the wing at the bottom, on the opposite side of the actual dump valve, so this is where I thought one culd have been fitted to enable drainage of both sides without having to tip the lot upside down. If you have to start cutting and messing about as you said, I'll forget the idea, as although I reckon I could do it, I'd rather not, seeing as its not mine to b*gger about with. Thanks for the tip and I'll have a good old inspection later. Graham Quote:

Chances are if you have one dump valve and inflator you have the single bladder OR you have a double bladder that's not connected to A dump valve or inflator (unlikely) and will just fill with water as it's not sealed at either end. Be careful if you do decide to take it apart IIRC the inflator hose has a weird reverse thread thing going on and is very hard to separate without a special tool or damaging it (as both parts are plastic). Good luck WCD
