Twinning without steel bands?

I'm just moving to a twinset but would prefer the flexibility to swap between singles or twins so I'm looking for something to bolt to the backplate of my X-Tec wing instead of steel bands.

I've seen Buddy bands but these seem to need slots in the plate which I don't have - just the holes in the middle! Is there something simple that could attached these to my wing?

Cheers!

The easiest option is to get yourself a Custom Divers backplate and then sell your old one on Ebay.

The CD backplate accepts singles directly (using cam band through the backplate) without the need for a STA. It also accepts twin indies using cambands through the backplate - which is perfect for travelling.

Hi,

there are a number of twin cam band adaptors available that bolt to plates. These use 2 sets of webbing cam bands passing through a block with bolts. Attached is photo of OMS offering but there are others ( I saw some really nice ones a couple of days ago but I do not know what make).

To use a single you would then need a single tank adaptor.

I'd avoid the OMS solution as it weighs about a ton. I use a really nifty few bits of plastic that allow Buddy twinning band to bolt to a backplate. I bought them from a bloke on t'net. I just wish I could remember who.

Mark is right about the OMS kit. It is heavy.

However, I've found the others that I'd seen. they are supplied by Narked at 60 and are made in aluminium. The 2 plates split and can be used as a single adaptor.

Don't know what they are like to use.

Hope this helps.

John

I think it was something like MarkP suggested that I had in mind although I'm intrigued by the CD backplate and being able to just change the straps to swap configurations.

Those NAS adaptors look the business too - I've actually got a single adaptor already bolted onto the backplate.

MarkP - I'd really love to know where you got your adaptors for the Buddy bands!

We at Kent Tooling manufacture independent cylinder adaptors made of Marine Grade 316 stainless steel, with this item you are able to bolt your wing directly to the stainless steel boss that is in the middle of the adaptors.

If you require any further info you can contact me on the number below

That sounds really interesting - I've just had a look at it on your website. How much does a set of those cost? Does that include straps with it?

Cheers!
Peter

John,

they do look nice. My main reason for a set of these would be travelling; any idea how much they weigh?

Cheers, John
