Smile DR Trek or Venture?

g/f needs first wing, can't decide between DR Venture and TrekWing. Is the extra capacity of a TrekWing going to cause her a bit of trouble with a single? I know they are made for it, but she won't be moving to twins for another 6 months or so.

I have the DR Junior which was replaced by the Trek. It's basically the exact same wing except the Junior doesn't have the bungies on it but does have a small fastex clip at the base. It's fine with both singles and twins ( I use it with twin 12 faber ). Doesn't wrap around at all when using a single. If you use it with a 'home made' backplate the wing folds down to virtually nothing for travelling. I think the Junior / Trek is about 45lb lift. The only thing that I did was give the bladder a bit more protection by covering it with an old car innertube inside the outer casing.

I wouldn't hesitate in getting another one of these.

Hope this helps.

Regards, Ian.

I use a travle wing, having gone through the same process a couple of years ago. I think the only real difference between the travel wing and venture, is that the venture is more expensive and has bolt holes for a harness (which can be added to the travel wing with a soldering iron).

I think the question is one of money. If you can afford to buy a singles wing now and then buy a dedicated doubles wing later then go that path. If you want to go for a 'one size fits all' solution then I would get the trek or rec.

I love the travel wing and its lovely for all singles diving, no wrapping etc, if you are getting a TPII then I would reccomend it as an option. If you think she may want a wing/bc for holidays later on then a singles wing might be worthwhile.
