<font color='#000080'>Oh dear. Dissertation not going well. The bungees are now off the wing, and they were pretty easy to remove, so they can go back on easily enough. I just tested one, and it came, so I've done the lot.
So, the test drive will be coming up fairly soon.
What about if I could somehow prevent tank-wrap? With a coupld of short lengths of bungee holding the wing to the backplate, at about every foot or so around the wing. Much less hassle, no reduction in performance.
That said, until it goes for a test drive I'm not going to play with it.

<font color='#0000FF'>Hello Digger,
Are you actually sure why are you taking off bungies Are you DIR possesed ? I have a Custom Divers but our bungie works differently as we have 2 types. 1 outside which closes half of the wing and internal that keeps the wing tight as well.
With mine I have no problem inflating and if you have just adj. bungie tension, iy's even written in manual. Getting trapped is no issue as bungie is actually silicon 3 - 5mm tubing and easily cut!
I think if I am convinved so much to a non bungie wing, then I will prefer to change wing to a Halycon or similar!

Finally I am diving my YBOD![]()

<font color='#000080'>I don't have the finances to go down the different wing route Pierre, but I think I may be possesed by the DIR devil. Talking to a lot of the DOR guys, it makes sense a lot of what they do, but then you're not going to get my tanks the wrong way up in a hurry. I like inverts, they do the job very nicely for me.
I am thinking about having another Apeks on my long hose, as the Cyklon is fine, but the interchangeability could be useful. ANyone want to trade? Cyklon on a 2m hose for an Apeks on a long hose? Oh dear, this is getting very DIR now. Mark will hate me.
My harness is getting pretty DIR too. No breaks, D-rings in all the right places. All I need now is to give up smoking and binge drinking and develop a team attitude. Oh, and some situational awareness. Howard was telling me all about it.![]()
Does this mean no more solo diving? I could always just dive a hog rig and stay the way I am. It will be like DIS. Taking the bits I like, leaving the bits I don't!

<font color='#FF0000'>wotch it mate dids round here is a dirty word. however now youve taken the bungies off where you gona put your flask and butty box. lol.![]()
Bah umbug it nearly that time of year again you know the time when you got to be nice to relatives you cant stand and Turky butties in yer pack up till easter.
My biggest problem with a bungied wing is that it is designed to deflate itself.....
This means that if your wing ever got a small puncture, or a dump valve jammed open or the elbow fractures (all of which are quite feasible) then no matter which attitude you take in the water you cannot get the wing to retain air, it will keep deflating itself... and that to me is a BAD thing...
Whereas with a standard wing even if you should suffer any of the problems descibed above then just by changing attitude in the water you could still get lift from the wing even if that means a head down arse up attitude, what ever it takes to start that journey upwards
Just as an open ended DSMB will retain air as long as the hole is at the bottom then the same will apply to your main bouyancy device, therefore one has a much greater chance of gaining lift with a broken unbungied wing... IMHO
I have other issues but this is without doubt my biggest issue with self deflating wings..

<font color='#000080'>I suppose that those conforming to DIDS would be 'diddlers'.
I'm sure that Digs would be chuffed to know people all over UK were diddling as a result of him!!
Angus
<font color='#000080'>I'm a diddler! Oh yes! What's a diddler?![]()
Oh, and this work is coming on a treat. I do 10 minutes, play with dive gear 10 minutes, then get on YD and talk about it 10 minutes. Very good. Getting lots done now.
I've also been thinking about shortening the inflator hose, as I don't really like it dangling around my waist. So, this is starting to worry me a lot.
Why does DIR have such a short inflator hose? I mean really short, because all the halcyon wings have a hose that's about 4" shorter than even I would have it in a short hose kind of mood? Fire away. My reasoning is that I don't really use the wing for buoyancy, it's all drysuit. But if I needed to chuck a bit in there, I can get to the hose easy enuogh with it at the front of my shoulder, not at my waist.

<font color='#000080'>I just found out what a diddler is. I am not one of those.
