####, cought outDon't forget to tell Garry where you heard of www.narkedat60.com if you get in touch will you.:director:
But seriously, in a few weeks time I will be going on another boat dive out off Brid. The fist dive will be done using my Twins but I won't have enough air for the second dive. With this in mind I will be taking my 15L and hiring a 7L pony. To swap from twins to single can be done in seconds.
Narked at 60 is new on the market and hasn't got much in the way of advertising at the mo and I wouldn't want you lot to miss out on this fine product! :banghead:
Best be off before I get too NARKED now. :losecool:
Ali ;)
I have followed this post wiyh interest as i too am looking to buy a wing for use with a twinset next year.
I had considered a REC WING with Transpac II Harness as the prefered system until I read the posts here.
So, I went to Narkedat60 today and found that what they sell is a rebadged Zegal wing. However I also spoke to the 'owner' a font of knowledge it appears.
What he did tell me is that TDI have instructed no more training for students on any courses where they use a bungied wing due to safety concerns?
Has anyone heard of this or was I been sold a Zegal non bungied wing?
Any thoughts on the Diverite wing and should I pay the extra for a double bladder system at this stage?
Cheers
Andy W
As a TDI instructor, its news to me about the bungied wing comment. I know the man in question has a downer on OMS, its a personal choice, I prefer unbungied myself, but dont cross the street to avoid diving with guys in bungied wings. If you dive bungied on one of my courses I check that the bungies are not too tight, and you can orally inflate your jacket fully, whilst bungied as you normally dive it, if you cant blow it, I slacken the bungies.
Thanks for that Andy, I was looking at a Diverite wing at £300 inc, I thought the Narkedat60 wing was a little too expensive at £490 by comparison, but didn't want to invest in something that would cause me or my buddy any danger due to a design fault.
What about the double bladder question?
I could do without the additional cost but.... How much does I wish I had cost later?
Double bladders, well depends on your type of diving, wetsuit tech diving, double bags are good, but if its all drysuit you dont need it, your drysuit is your backup bag, on the other hand, if you alaways carry a good dsmb with min 25kg lift thats your backup, if the unthinkable happens, fin like #### whilst deploying your bag, then haul yourself out, thats how I operate, and its worked for years.
Hi, I have recently purchased a transpac II recwing, although it is bungied (not a problem for me) the bungies are actually tucked away between the harness and bladder out of the way so there is a minimal if any risk of snagging them and I can easily inflate orally! not used for twins yet so I cannot comment but it is well made, (I personally like the adjustable shoulder straps) a customer of mine who has done the Tec Deep Diver Q did say that they would not allow a single bladder wing on the course,
Thats my input,
cheers,

I fancy a Halcyon Explorer 55, but I'm concerned on whether its overkill with my single 15 until i can afford my twinset....
Theres no way I can buy - Wing, BP, Harness etc AND a Twinset, Manifold extra Reg, and long hose kit etc all in one go. so I'm hoping that I can dive ok and stay balanced on the surface with a STA and 15ltr with the 55 wing, I don't want to buy one of the smaller wings designed for single tanks cos I don't intend to have the single for that much longer and it would just be a waste of money.
By buying the Wing combination alone, I can make the first move pretty quickly and grab the twins as soon as it is financially possible.
Any thoughts on my comments from the people who know...Andy H for example?
Dave, a 55 will wrap around a single, its a wide wing, wont unbalance you on the surface, but if you use your wing for bouyancy its hard to dump because of trapped air when it wraps around a single tank, depends on your style of diving, if you use your suit as your main source of bouyancy it will work, until you get twinned up.
As for the Tec deep course, well thats good old PADI for you, overkill on the kit again, its not needed, you can only inflate one at once, unless its totally independant bladders, aka, buddy or zeagle. Learn the skills to survive with the bare minimum, it makes your diving safer and more fun, cos you are not carrying loads of unnecesary kit with you.
If I believed my bladder was going to go down the pan on every dive, believe me I would run independant wings, cos its a long way up from 100+, but you have to either be bad on your maintenance or a really rough bugger to hole a bladder, if you are doing deep dives, its a good idea to fully inflate your wing/bc the day before and leave it, to make sure it has not got a leak, better to find out & repair/replace or can the dive, than find out it leaks just as you pass the point of no return on the dive.
Well at the moment Andy I 'am' mainly using the suit for bouyancy because I'm finding that once I've taken the squeeze off I'm about neutral anyway, but saying that my recent diving has been very shallow < 20m but thats because of the locations we're diving rather than any other reason. I expect when going deeper I'll be bringing the wing into play but I imagine I'll just have to rotate my body into a heads up position to dump air and then use the suit/auto dump as I get shallower, would that be true?
Do you have any 55's in stock?
