Quad sidemounts

Wreckferret,

CDG sometimes lads do it with two sidemounts each side - if two sides plus a chest mount ain't enough. But these are rigged off one of our sidemount harnesses, as opposed to backmount shoulder straps. (Even tried out 2x20 with 2x15 plus a pair of chest-mounted. It worked but a bit cluttered to say the least!)

Another alternative is a bungee bottle bra and waste belt.

With the quad sidemounts, two can be dropped if necessary to continue with just one pair - all down to the harness, the size of krabs on your bottle bands and how dexterous you are.

Ooops

Make the 'waste belt' a 'waist belt'.

Dyslexia roles, KO?

Try having a look at Duncan's website:

He must be away - he's also on this forum and normally quick to respond.

Cheers

You answered it for me! Never worn quad S/M's - normally I just bung on chest mounts - up to 3 12's in addition to a pair of 15's. Unless you need different mixes its best to keep the bottle count down by using bigger cylinders. I have dived with John Volanthen in Vobster when he was testing quads with his YBOD. The method appears to be to attach the first pair to your harness in the usual manner and then add the second pair to the same waist attachment point using a short length of tape between the Jubilee clip on the tank and the karabiner - this acts as an extender.

Thanks everyone, will study the info next week.

I will let you know how I get on.

One last question : Does anyone know if you can do a basic Cave diving course in Ireland ?

It would be good to learn new techniques for wreck penetration.

Try contacting Martyn Farr - he teaches over here but has done a lot of cave diving in Ireland and would be a good start.
